The 3T6 Swiss Albino cell line is derived from Swiss mouse embryos and is known for its secretion of collagen and hyaluronic acid. Unlike the 3T3 line, 3T6 cells do not exhibit contact inhibition. Their karyotype displays instability within the stemline range (78-81), with approximately 21% of cells containing an extra large chromosome featuring a terminal centromere and 21% containing minute chromosomes. These cells are non-tumorigenic and highly homogeneous, and they have been confirmed negative for ectromelia virus (mousepox).
