CCF-STTG1 is an astrocytic-like cell line that originates from a 68-year-old White female patient afflicted with astrocytoma, sourced from brain tissue. This human cell line is distinguished by a substantial proportion of tetra-, hexa-, and higher-ploid cells. Remarkably, these cells exhibit significant perinuclear acid phosphatase activity, with glial fibrillary acidic protein present in 70% to 80% of the cellular population. CCF-STTG1 cells demonstrate the constitutive secretion of Apolipoprotein (apo) E in serum-free media.
