The DMS 153 cell line was derived from metastatic liver tissue obtained during autopsy from a patient afflicted with small cell carcinoma of the lung (SCLC) who had undergone cytoxan and methotrexate treatment. These cells exhibit tumorigenic properties in nude mice and secrete moderate amounts of calcitonin (CT) and calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP). Furthermore, they have been found to produce adrenocorticotropin (ACTH), bombesin (BN), 17 beta-estradiol, and oxytocin-neurophysin (OT-NP). DMS 153 cells express various cell surface antigens, including Leu 7, HLA-DR, My 23, the AML-1-99 defined antigen, and CR3 receptor, while also possessing receptors for bombesin (BN) and epidermal growth factor (EGF).- ONLINE INQUIRY
