The HCT-8 cell line, derived from the large intestine of a 67-year-old male adenocarcinoma patient, represents a human colon cancer cell line characterized by an epithelioid morphotype, which consistently gives rise to α-catenin-deficient round cell formations. It is noteworthy that HCT-8 is molecularly identical to HRT-18. HCT-8 cells exhibit positivity for keratin as evidenced by immunoperoxidase staining and have been demonstrated to be particularly supportive of high rates of C. parvum infection.
