These cells harbor an integrated hepatitis B virus genome and display an epithelial morphology. Notably, Hep3B cells possess tumorigenic properties in nude mice. Chromosomally, they maintain an average of 60 chromosomes per cell, with a predominant subtetraploid mode of 82.
