OVKATE is a human ovarian carcinoma cell line derived from a serous papillary adenocarcinoma solid tumor. These cells express various cytokeratins (CKs 6, 7, 8, 13, 17, 18, 19, 20, 15, and/or 16) and are negative for CKs 10 and 14. Additionally, OVKATE cells are positive for vimentin, EMA, and EGF receptors, while negative for desmin, S-100, myoglobin, type II collagen, α-smooth muscle actin, and glial fibrillary acidic protein. They exhibit transplantability to both mouse hypodermis and abdominal regions, forming tumors with sheet-like structures, solid nests, or papillary structures composed of oval- to spindle-shaped cells.
