Description |
THLE-2 cells are immortalized human adult liver epithelial cells modified with recombinant simian virus 40 large T antigen virus. These cells have undergone more than 100 population doublings and exhibit a near-diploid karyotype. They have been found to be non-tumorigenic when injected into athymic nude mice. Notably, THLE-2 cells do not express alpha-fetoprotein.
Why choose THLE-2 from AcceGen? THLE-2 cells possess several notable features. They are sterile and rigorously tested to ensure they are negative for bacteria, fungi, and mycoplasma contamination, ensuring the purity of the cell line. These cells exhibit high viability, enabling robust experimental results. They are also subjected to professional cryopreservation methods, allowing for long-term storage and convenient access. Furthermore, THLE-2 cells undergo rigorous quality control measures, guaranteeing their reliability and consistency for various research applications. |

Application | FOR RESEARCH USE ONLY THLE-2 cells serve as valuable models for studying xenobiotic metabolism and toxicity. They are widely utilized to elucidate insulin-dependent signaling pathways and the regulation of hepatic metabolism. These cells are also employed as an in vitro model for pharmacotoxicological studies, allowing researchers to assess the potential adverse effects of drugs and other substances on liver function. Additionally, THLE-2 cells are valuable tools for investigating the etiology and pathogenesis of human hepatocellular carcinoma, offering insights into the development and progression of this type of liver cancer. |
